Identifying Sources of Unwanted Water in Pipe Networks
Often used in conjunction with smoke testing, or CCTV inspection dye testing involves mixing a safe, biodegradable dye in water and releasing it into a nearby storm line, catch basin, ditch, yard, or low-lying area near the pipe in question. This dye highlights the path that stormwater takes during extreme rain events, helping to identify defects in the piping network and showing how stormwater might enter the sanitary sewer network. The goal is to minimize the stormwater into the sewer system to maximize the capacity of sewage treatment facilities and avoid sewage overflows.
